Horsemart animal welfare

Friday Media Group’s flagship equine website www.horsemart.co.uk is on a mission to connect abandoned, neglected horses with loving owners who can give them a safe home.

Horsemart has pledged to provide all horse rescue charities with free subscriptions to post details of horses needing a home. This gives the charities access to Horsemart’s 500,000 visitors a month, an equine email database of 50,000 and 90,000 followers on Facebook – at no cost.

The team at Horsemart were moved to act following horrific stories in the national press of horse neglect and local authorities being forced to euthanize abandoned horses rather than face the cost and complications of rehoming them. As Horsemart has a large audience of horse lovers, the hope is that horses facing this plight will have a greater chance of being saved.

In the four months since the Safe Homes for Horses scheme went live, over £25,000 worth of free advertising had been put live through Horsemart, and a with 17 horse rescue charities signed up (as of February 2016) the hope is that real progress can be made.

We’re delighted that over 400 horses have been given the chance of finding a ‘forever home’ through this high profile channel.

Charities signed up so far include RSPCABlue CrossHorses4Homes and HorseWorldTrust, New Beginnings Horses, Moo Haven and the Parkgate Pony Sanctuary.

The Friday Media Group Foundation will continue to support this ongoing campaign. Horsemart is encouraging more charities to use the free subscription on the site, and is investing in publicising the service to the wider equine community as well as the site’s own loyal audience.

If you run or work for an equine rescue centre or charity, please visit this page and leave us your details. Horses are beautiful, innocent creatures and should have every chance available to them to lead a normal, happy life.

We really want to make a difference!
