The Friday Media Group Foundation has had the pleasure and privilege of working with the following charities:
We’re very proud to have supported Cancer Research UK in recent years. Our Made in Sussex Craft & Food Fair 2014 was an unprecedented success, instigated and organised by Liz Kidger and a team at Friday Media Group. Held at Goddenwick Farm in Lindfield, West Sussex on Sunday 7th September, the fair attracted over 3,000 people, whose generosity on the day raised an incredible £9,420.56 for Cancer Research UK.
Friday Media Group Foundation has raised funds and donated Christmas trees via our partner www.SendMeAChristmasTree.co.uk, to children’s hospitals in Sussex including Royal Alex Children’s Hospital, Chalkhill Adolescent Hospital, and Tudor House children’s respite centre. Rockinghorse raises money for life-saving and cutting-edge medical equipment, ensuring that children are treated in an environment that is best suited to their needs, at these great facilities.
A brilliant, inspirational charity, and very local to Friday Media Group’s Sayers Common head office, St Peter & St James will be supported by The Friday Media Group Foundation throughout 2016, notably as our Friday-Ad Brighton Marathon and 10k runners’ chosen charity. Via the Friday-Ad and other channels we can help St Peter & St James publicise their upcoming fundraising events such as the Star Walk and Local Hospice Lottery. The charity has been providing compassionate end of life care, free of charge, to the community of East and West Sussex since the mid 1980s. A fantastic multi-disciplinary team provides services to over 600 patients a year, including nursing, medical care, counselling, physiotherapy and complimentary therapy.
The Raystede Centre for Animal Welfare is a free-to-visit animal sanctuary in the Sussex countryside. The centre has teams of volunteers working to rescue, rehome and provide sanctuary for more than 200 animals each year. Friday Media Group Foundation has raised funds for the charity through a ‘Paws to the Floor’ charity dog walk in 2014. A team of staff also enjoyed a day of volunteering at the centre.
The RSPCA runs high profile campaigns to raise standards of care and awareness of issues for the animals who have no voice. Their excellent work involves the care and rehabilitation of animals, lobbying for laws to be changed, and campaigning to improve the welfare of animals on farms, in research labs, in the wild, in paddocks or in our homes. At Friday Media Group Foundation we’re delighted to be working with this leading charity on our Safe Homes for Horses campaign on equine website www.horsemart.co.uk.
Based in Bristol, HorseWorld is the South-West’s leading charity caring primarily for horses, ponies and donkeys. Funded entirely by public donations, their remit is to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome animals that have been abandoned, neglected or ill-treated. We’re really pleased that this hard working charity is making use of our Safe Homes for Horses scheme on Horsemart to find homes for rescue horses.
This horse rescue charity is a small non-profit organisation based in Nottinghamshire. It was founded in 2007 when an otherwise healthy horse, our Monty, was found to have serious medical problems that previous owners had not identified or treated. Sadly Monty could not be saved, but Moo-Haven is his legacy. Moo Haven is a signed up member of Horsemart’s Safe Homes for Horses scheme, qualifying for free advertising of rescue horses.
Racehorse Relief is a racehorse rehabilitation and rehoming charity based in Cornwall. This hard-working charity is one of our recognized partners on Horsemart’s Safe Homes for Horses campaign.
Horse Sense Wirral received charity status in May 2013, and now the charity is rapidly growing with a dedicated team of volunteers, on the day to day running of looking after the horses and administration. We’re very pleased that the charity has signed up to Horsemart’s Safe Homes for Horses campaign.
This charity was founded in 1937 to help fight against the transportation of live horses to the continent for slaughter. HAPPA continues to play a major role in all aspects of equine welfare, placing rescued animals within new homes as soon as possible. With a fully equipped Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, HAPPA can ensure rescued and abandoned equines are lovingly restored back to health. The Centre is situated above Burnley, Lancashire – home to between 40 – 60 equines at any one time. HAPPA benefits from free advertising on Horsemart.co.uk.
HEROS (Homing Ex-Racehorses Organisation Scheme) is a charity dedicated to ensuring former racehorses have a future when their racing days are over and was set up in July 2006 by Grace Muir, CEO, to help the vulnerable and unwanted racehorses that leave the industry each year. HEROS believes that these horses deserve a future and with re-education and retraining can be rehomed to suitable people and have a long, happy and useful life.
The Horse Rescue Fund is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation and rehoming ofall needy Horses, donkeys and ponies. The main aim of the Horse Rescue Fund, which is based in East Anglia, is to alleviate the suffering of any ill-treated or neglected equines, bring them back to health and, if possible, back into work and then place them on loan in approved homes. With more than 100 horses, ponies and donkeys out in adoptive homes, there are more to follow in their footsteps at present under rehabilitation at Woodstock Farm in Norfolk. The charity has signed up to Horsemart’s Safe Homes for Horses campaign.
White Horse Stables – Horse Rescue
Wonderful White Horse Stables in East Sussex typically has about 28 horses or ponies in its care at any one time. All these horses and ponies are seeking sponsorship, adoption or rehoming. The charity hopes advertising through Horsemart’s Safe Homes for Horses scheme will help reach the right people who can give these horses loving homes.
Based on the Wirral, this pony sanctuary was established by the Bamford family in 1984. Since that time the pony sanctuary has grown steadily and currently has the responsibility of caring for 36 horses and ponies, plus a donkey. It still remains a family run sanctuary, run by a group of close friends and valuable volunteers.
Set up in 1985 and based at the edge of the beautiful Brecon Beacons, this great trust works hard to rehabilitate and rehome horses, ponies and donkeys who have been the victims of cruelty, neglect and abandonment. The Friday Media Group Foundation is hoping that free advertising through Horsemart will help in their quest to find suitable homes for these animals. Around 30 equines at any one time are looked after on the farm, with approximately 100 horses on long term loan, and others in short term foster homes.
This Kent retreat celebrates the life of animals, and campaigns against the way humans treat both domestic and wild creatures. With a largely vegan staff, and a no-kill policy, the organisation has three sites – Crockenhill, Ashford and High Halden – each offering specialised care for the animals taken in. We’re delighted that The Retreat is one of our Safe Homes for Horses participants on Horsemart.
Here’s another charity which has signed up to Horsemart’s free advertising for rescue horses scheme. Horses4Homes aims to safely and efficiently rehome horses, doing this largely through its own robust online listing and application process. In 2014 Horses4Homes helped to rehome 270 horses within England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The organisation is on a mission to promote humane behaviour towards animals, in particular horses, and to educate the public in matters pertaining to animal welfare in general and the prevention of cruelty and suffering among animals.
Based in North Yorkshire, this charity is all about a better ‘Life Past The Post’ for racehorses. The Charity is run by Kevin Atkinson and Pam Hollingworth who are passionate about thoroughbreds and their welfare. They retrain and rehome former Racehorses, and will be using the Safe Homes for Horses scheme through Horsemart for free advertising of horses suitable for being rehomed.
This large charity has been dedicated to helping sick, injured and homeless pets since 1897. The vision is that every pet will enjoy a healthy life in a happy home. Sometimes that means finding happy homes for abandoned or unwanted pets, “and we keep pets healthy by promoting welfare and providing treatment”. Friday Media Group Foundation hopes that Blue Cross will benefit greatly from the Safe Homes for Horses scheme on Horsemart to carry out this important rehoming work.
City College Brighton and Hove Pathways Construction students can benefit from this great project making bespoke furniture from recycled pallets. Using professional skills and equipment, students involved in the project produce items such as coffee tables, coat racks and spice racks which are available for sale. Past students have gone on to further study such as Level 1 & 2 plumbing and maintenance courses or have gained employment. Profits from The Pallet Project are shared between the learners and Trades 4 Aid, a voluntary trust which supports young people to take part in construction projects in developing countries.
BEN is the UK’s dedicated charity providing care and support for people who work or have worked in the automotive and related industries. Spidersnet became involved in the Bangers4BEN campaign in October 2013 – the ideal charity for an automotive web business to support, as its purpose is to help and advise automotive industry employees in need. Using our client contacts we were able to provide a quirky vehicle to take part in this unusual fundraising car rally. http://www.spidersnet.co.uk/latest-news/bangers-for-ben-2013.htm
