Did you know that the St Peter & St James Hospice in North Chailey, East Sussex is looking for volunteers? The centre is reliant on teams of dedicated individuals who give their time and share their expertise for the good of patients and their families. “We simply could not continue to offer our vital services without their commitment and the wide range of talents and abilities these volunteers bring to their work,” says chief executive Colin Burgess.
Some volunteers work with patients or support patients’ carers, others work in one of the eight modern charity shops run by St Peter & St James, or in the busy central warehouse – knowledge of furniture, china, glass and clothing is particularly helpful. Other volunteering opportunities include helping at Fundraising events, befriending, or becoing a member of a local Support Group.
Over 436 volunteers help in a variety of ways, including:
- Art/craft/music activities for patients
- Assisting in Beacon View Wellbeing Centre
- Bed making
- Complementary therapy
- Driving and escorting patients to and from Beacon View Wellbeing Centre
- Flower arranging
- Maintenance and DIY
- Serving drinks to patients
